I know, I know. I am late. That holiday was almost two weeks ago! The good news is that my Christmas cards were not late. By the way, if you think you should have gotten one from us and you didn’t, then you should call me or at least leave a comment on this post. Unless I really don’t know you, don’t leave a comment, that is just creepy. Here are some photos from the Rowland Christmas in Colorado.

Above we have the Rowland tree and gifts. Being the magnanimous wife that I am, I got Phil a thickness planer. Note to anyone purchasing a thickness planer – get someone to help you, those things are hea–vy! Meatball was guarding the tree from Smudge – who is that blurry bottom right corner of the photo. We definitely have had some cold, frosty mornings here – that was my windshield , from the inside. And last but not least: baby Jesus, who was mysteriously relocated while we were in California…
Also, during an unusually blustery night, a stuffed Santa Bear blew into our yard while we were gone. That is right folks. While we were gone, Santa came to stay.
Last weekend my mom and dad came out to visit. It was awesome! Thanks guys for coming all the way out and inhabiting our basement for a few days. I hope that you guys had as relaxing and fun a weekend as Phil and I had.

Last Sunday we had a great time going to the Dushanbe Tea House in Boulder, CO. First, they have delicious food and tea. Second, it is really easy to get a table for Sunday brunch anytime before 11am. Additionally, this building was assembled in Tajikistan, a country sanwiched inbetween Pakistan, Afganistan, China, Uzbekistan and Krygystan. The detail of the architecture is exquisite. The ceilings are painted with amazing precision. and the patios outdoors are surrounded with roses and next to Boulder Creek. In my opinion, this is one of the best things you can see and do in Boulder.
Because it is worth repeating, it was so great to have my parents out to visit. The last time my dad was here, a year ago to the weekend, Phil and I had lived in our house for three weeks – one of which we had spent going to my college reunion. There were boxes and stuff everywhere – we hadn’t even set up the bed frame for the bed my dad slept on yet! Plus, we were each in the first quarter of the school year at our new jobs. It was really very chaotic, looking back. This year it was such a blessing to be able to look back at everything we have done in the last year, including starting this bog!
Thanks for visiting Mom and Dad!
It is really weird to think that day before yesterday, we were in Oklahoma. This weekend Phil and I were lucky enough to get coverage at work so we could go to Aunt Rholine’s funeral. So Thursday afternoon we headed east. We were greeted outside of Oklahoma City by Joyce, Phil’s mom (who is awesome!). Driving through Kansas is like driving on a treadmill, she told us. Boy, is she right!
We made it back to Colorado (although at the Kansas/Colorado border, we were confused by a town called Kanorado). Today, we are just thankful we got some family time and had Rholine in our lives and are back at home. Smudge and Meatball are also thankful for that last one too.
Hey there everyone!
We’re back on the blog scene now. We hope you have a great 4th of July. We spent the weekend in the mountains with the Lessly Family for our biannual reunion. It was great. Uncle Phil provided a major highlight of the weekend: he proposed to his girlfriend Luz! Luz, we all think you are wonderful. Good luck with the wedding plans.
We are lucky enough to have spent a few extra days with Joyce here in Loveland. We got to hit up the sights around here, especially with some shopping: Centerra, Boulder, and morning walks to Starbucks with Meatball!
First stop in Tacoma was the Museum of Glass. It was sweet – the cone thing below was a huge hot shop. A hot shop is a place where artists work with glass while it is hot. This one was complete with stadium seating so you could just sit back and watch the artist at work.
Phil loves the Museum of Glass.
Lastly in Tacoma, we got to visit with Aunt Frances and cousin Dean. It is always a blessing to get to hang out with family!
