So, last week Phil and I went on a bike ride. With about 8,000 other people. It was quite an event. Thanks to encouragement from our friends Rick and Katie (Rick sold us our house), we got in on the action of New Belgium Brewery’s Tour de Fat. This is a yearly event in Fort Collins but throughout the year, you too can ride in a Tour de Fat near you. Below is a photo of Rick and Katie in the afro and black braids (not their natural hair!). It was a great day. Meatball joined us for the ride and hanging out with Rick’s friends and coworker Mark and his girlfriend Tina. Thank you Mark and Tina for treating us to a simply delicious meal and a lovely afternoon.
You may have noticed that some people above are wearing costumes. Costumes are big for the 21 and over crowd here in Northern Colorado. Phil and I have not quite jumped on that bandwagon yet. We are gearing up for Halloween though. I think that Phil should be Bob Ross and some of my students have started calling me Captain Awesome. I could definitely get behind that. Maybe it should be my new work uniform…
I would like to show you some of the craziness of all those thousands of costumed bike riders that joined us riding around Old Town Ft. Collins. They were (mostly) sober and saved their drinking for later.
If you have made it this far down my post, I am sure that it comes as no surprise to hear that Northern Coloradans love their bikes. Here are some of the weirdest there are:
All this bike riding finally culminated in a big, fun beer-drinking party. What a day!
P.S. I love living here!
