Ikea is my most favorite store in the whole world (followed closely by Target). If I could go there once a month, I would. Unfortunately here in Colorado, there is NO IKEA! Some commerical genius south of Denver told Ikea that they could not emblazon the prospective building in blue and yellow and so the fount of modern furniture for the masses took their business elsewhere. What were you thinking Colorado? Of course it has to be blue and yellow!!!
When we recently visited the Pacific Northwest, Phil and I (and really I mean myself) got our latest Ikea fix. Even though I was getting super sick that day, Ikea still was worth it. This time, we bought a box of graham crackers in the shape of the letters i, k, e, & a. It was awesome. I also got my dollar and a quarter soft serve cone.
And did you know there is an Ikea smell? It is a toasty cinnamon smell that comes from all the cinnamon rolls that they bake near the cash registers. Before we were even in the store, my nose told me we had arrived!
Currently, I am coveting a new couch. Here is option #1:
This is the Klippan sofa. It goes for $499. It is even leather!!!! As far as furniture prices go, this is just unparalleled. Check out a Pottery Barn couch sometime. You’ll see what I mean.
Here is option #2:
Just when you thought that Ikea was really too good to be true. It gets better. This Sater sofa is 6.5 feet long and is dark brown leather. All this for a sweet $399. That is right only $399 for this lovely loveseat.
Phew. What are your thoughts on Ikea?

So moving to Colorado has been an excellent decision. However, there have been a few tough moments. I am so happy that school is out for summer that I just had to do something to celebrate. I knew my friend Virginia was just the girl to help me out. She and her husband Mike are from Alabama and are one of many recent transplants to the Northern Colorado area. They are expecting a lovely baby girl come fall! Virginia is currently going to beauty school and is the top of her class. I knew she would be up for dying my hair pink.
So far, despite some strange looks at my local Target, I have had a very enthusiastic response to the pink. People I don’t even know come up and touch my hair telling me that it looks great. Virginia, you are amazing. If you are in need of Virginia’s hair cutting or coloring skills, just make a post and I am happy to send along the information.
Yay pink!

So Phil and I have this backyard porch that came with the house we bought in September and moved into in October. At first we thought, “Wow, that porch’ll be nice.” Friends and relations, it is not just nice. Our porch is totally sweet! I am currently writing to you from said porch after eating some fine cheese, drinking some delicious wine (7 Deadly Zins Old Vine Red Zinfindel), with husband and my dog. As of today, Phil and I actually have something to sit on too. We got some low-design and high comfort plastic adirondack chairs from Target. I highly recommend them. They really have facilitated my porch-sitting today and I look forward to continued porch-sitting in the near future. In just a short two weeks, it will be summer.

Not too long after we moved to Colorado we met a great couple named Mike and Virginia at church. They recently moved from Alabama and are avid rock climbers. Does it get much cooler or more hard core than that, I think not. Sarah and I are by no means hard core in the least. But when the weather warmed up we got our chance. Mike and Virginia took us and a group from church rock climbing. Mike said that it was an easy climb, but too me it was still shear rocks going straight up for about at least three or four hundred feet. in actuality Mike said it was about fifty, my sense of distance might have been off while I was trying with an absurd amount of energy to look like I wasn’t scared. I learned a few things that day, first was that I could actually get to the top of a cliff (the view was amazing), second was that we have pretty amazing friends, and third was that my asthmatic wife is a far superior rock climber than I am. She was amazing, she looked like she was running up the rock. My wife is a Hoss

We are recent transplants from Southern California to lovely Loveland, CO. We haven’t totally left our SoCal roots though: case in point, we have caved to the pressure of blogging and this it, baby. Thanks Bret, Amanda and Liana! Springtime is here, so we are inundated with manic weather patterns and the return of many outdoor excursions. More posts to come on life in NoCO (Northern Colorado).
